If the Church be found today, it stands upon one foundation, Jesus Christ the reigning Saviour. That eliminates all other sources of teaching and religion.
What stands there for us is what we have erected by the knowledge and application of the pattern given us in the unchanging word of God.
How does your church look today? Is it a pile of leftovers or antiques from days gone by to be observed, but never used? Is it a monument to the skill and efforts of men? Is it a simple, yet welcoming place of safety in the storms of life and a constant source of light in an ever darkening world?
What does the next generation see in our labors to build? What would the previous generation think of our assembling of materials they laid up for us? What does the Lord think about how our building compares to His pattern?
"Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it." What kind of church will our children build and their children after them? They are watching and listening to us now.
May we like Noah build to the saving of our house in the fear of the Lord and His certain judgment. His way rises above the destruction. Men and their efforts perish.
